About Garfield Labyrinth (europe)
Garfield Labyrinth came out in 1989 for the Game Boy, developed by The Edge. It was part of that early wave of portable games where developers were figuring out how to build adventures on a small, monochrome screen. You control Garfield, naturally, and the whole point is to guide him through a multi-level maze to rescue his owner, Jon. The game plays out screen by screen; you push blocks to clear paths, avoid enemies like mice and spiders, and hunt for keys to unlock doors.
Your main goal is to find pieces of a magical crown scattered across the labyrinth's floors. The exploration is methodical, almost like solving a spatial puzzle with each new room. You have to watch your step, since some floors crumble away after you walk on them, and the enemies respawn if you leave a screen and come back. It is not a fast game, and the difficulty comes from remembering the maze layout and planning your moves carefully. Playing it feels like a slow, deliberate test of your memory and patience.
