Ganbare Goemon on Game Boy is this weird little platformer where you play as a purple-haired ninja who runs around smacking enemies with a pipe. The controls feel a bit stiff at first—like when you try to jump on tiny platforms and overshoot—but once you get used to it, there's something oddly satisfying about bonking those little enemy sprites.
It's got that classic 8-bit charm with bright colors and chiptune music that gets stuck in your head. Some of the level designs are surprisingly tricky, especially when they throw those instant-death pits at you. I died way too many times before realizing you can actually wall-jump (the manual doesn't mention it).
Not gonna lie, it's janky in that old-school way, but if you like retro platformers with personality, this one's got plenty. Just don't expect it to hold your hand.
