Konami released Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Douchuu for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. It was one of the early action platformers on the system, arriving before the series became more widely known outside Japan. The main goal is to rescue a kidnapped maiden by traveling across a side scrolling map of feudal Japan, fighting through towns and castles.
