Oh man, this takes me back. Game de Hakken!! Tamagotchi 2 was Japan's follow-up to the original Tamagotchi Game Boy game, and it's basically a more polished version of that weird little digital pet simulator. You still feed it, clean up after it, play minigames—all that classic Tamagotchi stuff—but with slightly better sprites and a few new surprises.
What I remember most is how the minigames actually felt like proper Game Boy titles this time around, not just token distractions. There's this one where you're popping bubbles that somehow got way more addictive than it had any right to be. And yeah, it's in Japanese, but the icons are simple enough that you'll figure it out after a few missteps (RIP to my first few Tamagotchis that starved because I kept pressing the wrong button).
If you ever had a Tamagotchi in the 90s and wondered what a beefed-up Game Boy version would play like, this is basically that fantasy realized.
