Game Boy Gallery is basically a little time capsule of classic Game & Watch titles, but with a twist—Nintendo swapped out the original characters for generic ones (probably to avoid licensing headaches). It’s weird at first seeing these faceless blobs instead of, say, Mario juggling balls in Ball, but you get used to it.
You’ve got a handful of those old-school LCD-style games here—Helmet, Chef, Mario’s Cement Factory (or, well, the knockoff version of it). They’re simple, but there’s something weirdly satisfying about the timing and precision they demand. The monochrome Game Boy screen actually kinda works in their favor—feels like playing on an old calculator, but in a good way.
It’s not flashy, but if you’re into retro stuff or just want to see where Nintendo’s portable roots started, this is a neat little curiosity. Just don’t expect any fancy remakes—it’s pure, unfiltered 90s handheld simplicity.
