Gambler Jiko Chuushin Ha - Mahjong Game (japan) Game

Ever tried old-school Japanese mahjong on the NES? Gambler Jiko Chuushin Ha is one of those obscure 8-bit tile games that somehow feels both brutally simple and weirdly deep. You start with the usual setup—drawing tiles, trying to make hands—but there's this odd tension because the AI opponents actually play dirty sometimes. Like, they'll wait just long enough to make you sweat before slapping down a winning tile.
The pixel art is charmingly basic, with these little character portraits that look like they were scribbled in a hurry. And yeah, it's all in Japanese, but after a few rounds, you start recognizing the kanji for "bamboo" and "dots" without thinking. Not gonna lie, the first time I won a hand by complete accident, I may have fist-pumped at my screen.
Definitely a niche pick, but if you're into retro mahjong or just want to see how the NES handled tile games, it's a weird little time capsule.
