About Gb Genjin (japan)
GB Genjin was a Japan only Game Boy release from Hudson Soft in 1990. It arrived early in the handheld's life, a time when developers were figuring out what worked on that small, green tinted screen. This game was part of a growing library of adventures that tried to translate console style action to a portable format.
You control Genjin, a caveman, navigating a series of side scrolling and top down areas. The main goal is to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend, Mimi, by fighting through prehistoric environments and their inhabitants. Your primary weapon is a bone club, which you can swing to defeat enemies; you also find a bow and arrow for ranged attacks. The game is structured screen by screen, with some light platforming and exploration required to find keys and progress. It moves at a deliberate pace and presents a fair challenge for its era, demanding careful jumps and enemy timing. Playing it feels like a methodical trek through a compact, prehistoric world.
