About Gb Genjin Collection
GB Genjin Collection came out for the Game Boy in 1994, developed by Hudson Soft. It was a time when platformers were everywhere on the handheld, and this compilation bundled together two adventures featuring Bonk, their caveman hero. It felt right at home on the small screen, a solid entry in the system's library.
You control Bonk, a small, strong caveman with a comically large head. Your goal is to fight through prehistoric levels, defeating dinosaurs and other creatures to rescue your kidnapped friend. Bonk's main attack is a headbutt; you can also perform a spinning dive from jumps and cling to certain ceilings. The game progresses screen by screen, with hidden bonus areas and food items to collect for health. The pacing is brisk, and some later stages demand precise jumps and quick reactions. It feels energetic and a little silly, a straightforward challenge from that era.
