About G.a.s.p!! Fighter's Nextream (japan)
Konami released G.A.S.P!! Fighter's NEXTream for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, a time when the console was full of experimental 3D fighters. It was a Japan only release, so you had to import it or find other ways to play. The game exists in that specific late 90s N64 space, trying to carve out its own identity among more established franchises.
You control a fighter navigating a series of connected, single screen battle arenas. Your main goal is to defeat all the enemies in one screen to progress to the next, clearing a path through the multi stage levels. A key mechanic is the ability to pick up and use weapons scattered around the arena, like swords and bows, which adds a layer of strategy to the brawling. The game also features a grappling hook for pulling enemies closer or yourself across gaps, changing how you approach the environment. The pacing is fast and the difficulty can be unforgiving, demanding quick reflexes to manage groups of opponents. Playing it feels like a frantic scramble for the nearest weapon to gain an edge.
