About Fushigi Na Blobby - Blobania No Kiki (japan)
Fushigi na Blobby - Blobania no Kiki was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan, but it never saw a release in other regions. I don't recall the developer or publisher offhand, but it fits right in with the kind of experimental platformers that popped up on the NES. It's one of those games you'd find through import catalogs or emulation much later.
You control a small, gelatinous blob character. Your main goal is to navigate through a series of single-screen rooms, rescuing other blobs that are trapped in bubbles. The core mechanics involve stretching and bouncing your blob to reach high platforms; you can also absorb certain enemies to temporarily gain their abilities, like a higher jump. The game is methodical, requiring you to plan your elastic movements carefully, and it can be quite unforgiving if you miss a jump. Playing it feels like solving a slow, wobbly physics puzzle with a surprising amount of tension.
