From TV Animation Slam Dunk came out for the Game Boy in 1995, published by Bandai. It was one of many games based on popular anime that tried to capture the feel of the show on the small screen. You got a portable basketball experience, which was a neat idea at the time, even if the hardware limited what it could do visually.
You control Hanamichi Sakuragi, the main character from the series, and your goal is to win basketball games. The gameplay is split between story sequences and the actual matches. On the court, you pass, steal, and shoot, trying to outscore the other team. A special meter builds up as you play, letting you unleash powerful super shots that are harder to block.
