Oh man, this Slam Dunk Game Boy game takes me back. It's one of those old-school basketball sims where you control the Shohoku High team from the anime, running up and down a tiny pixelated court. The controls are simple—pass, shoot, steal—but timing your dunks just right feels surprisingly satisfying.
What's cool is how each character plays like their anime counterpart. Hanamichi's wild dunks have this exaggerated arc, Rukawa's shots are smooth as butter, and Akagi dominates under the net. The sprite work is actually pretty decent for a Game Boy sports game—you can tell who's who even on that tiny green screen.
It's definitely janky by modern standards, but there's charm in how hard it leans into the 90s anime vibe. Just don't expect NBA Jam levels of polish. The game's entirely in Japanese, but menus are simple enough to muscle through if you remember the anime.
