Foton is one of those weird, obscure NES games that makes you go, "Wait, what is this?" at first glance. It's got this bizarre mix of puzzle-solving and action—you're basically a little dude running around grids, flipping switches and dodging enemies that look like they escaped from a low-budget sci-fi flick.
The controls take a second to get used to (why does jumping feel so floaty?), but once you figure out the rhythm, it’s oddly satisfying. Some levels feel like they’re trolling you with how convoluted the solutions are, but that’s part of the charm. Also, the music? Surprisingly catchy for something this niche.
If you’re into retro games that didn’t get the spotlight back in the day, this one’s a fun little time capsule. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand.
