Football International Game

Football International on Game Boy is one of those old-school soccer games that somehow makes chunky pixels feel intense. You pick a national team—I always went for Brazil, even though their sprites looked about the same as everyone else—and then it’s straight into these fast, chaotic matches where the ball pings around like it’s made of rubber.
The controls are simple (d-pad and two buttons, basically), but scoring actually takes some finesse. At first, I just mashed buttons and hoped for the best, but after a few matches, you start timing shots better, figuring out when to sprint or pass. The goalkeepers are either weirdly psychic or totally useless—no in-between.
It’s got that classic Game Boy charm, right down to the crowd noise that sounds like someone shaking a box of spare change. Not the deepest soccer sim, but perfect for quick matches when you just want to blast a pixelated ball into a net. Still holds up better than you’d expect.
