Flying Dragon - The Secret Scroll is one of those NES hidden gems that feels like a fever dream—in a good way. You start off with your master Juan giving you this cryptic mission to reach Shironji, and suddenly you're hacking through ninjas and dodging evil spirits in some seriously moody woods. The vibe is equal parts cheesy and cool, like an 80s martial arts flick crammed into 8-bit.
At first, the controls take a second to click—Z and X for attacks, arrows to move—but once you get the rhythm down, it’s weirdly satisfying. The enemies come at you fast, and some of those spirit fights? Total panic moments. Shironji itself feels like this weird, mystical payoff after all the chaos, though good luck figuring out the scroll’s mystery without a guide.
If you’re into side-scrolling brawlers with a side of supernatural nonsense, this one’s got that old-school charm. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
