About Flipull
Flipull came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Taito. It was one of those early puzzle games that felt perfectly suited for the handheld, a straightforward challenge you could pick up between bus stops or before bed. In an era where the Game Boy library was still growing, it offered a different kind of spatial thinking compared to the more common action or adventure titles.
You control a cursor to select and remove pairs of matching colored blocks from a grid. The main objective is to clear each screen of all blocks before time runs out. The signature mechanics involve pulling blocks from the grid; when you remove a pair, the remaining blocks shift to fill the gaps, often creating new matches or sometimes trapping you if you are not careful. The game progresses screen by screen, with the layouts and time limits becoming more demanding. It feels like a constant, quiet race against the clock, a test of your ability to plan moves under pressure.
