Field Combat is one of those old-school NES shooters that feels like a weird mix of Commando and a strategy game. You control a little soldier running up the screen, blasting enemies while dodging their fire—pretty standard stuff at first glance. But here’s the twist: you can actually steal enemy tanks and helicopters if you shoot them just right. It’s oddly satisfying to hijack their own firepower and turn it against them.
The controls take a second to get used to—your guy moves a bit stiff, and aiming diagonally feels weird—but once you get the hang of swiping enemy vehicles, it clicks. The stages are short and chaotic, with waves of enemies dropping in from all sides. Not gonna lie, some of the later levels get brutal, but that’s part of the charm. If you dig retro shooters with a little extra gimmick, this one’s a fun time-waster.
