Faria: A World of Mystery & Danger! came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Game Arts. It was part of that wave of action RPGs on the NES that tried to build on what games like The Legend of Zelda had started, offering a big world to explore without the complex menus of a traditional role playing game.

You control a young warrior named Celes, starting with a simple sword and a quest to rescue a princess. The game is played screen by screen; you walk through fields, forests, and dungeons, fighting monsters in real time. You can eventually get a bow for ranged attacks, and a major part of the game is finding keys and special items to unlock new areas. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be steep, especially in later dungeons where enemy placement is tricky. It feels like a slow, methodical journey where every new piece of equipment makes a real difference.
