Family Mahjong Ii - Shanghai Heno Michi Game
📅 1991 ✍️ Coconuts Japan Entertainment

Family Mahjong II is one of those classic NES mahjong games that feels like digging up an old board game from your grandma's closet—simple, a little dusty, but weirdly charming. You're basically matching tiles in that classic Shanghai solitaire style, but with that late '80s Nintendo aesthetic. The music’s got that repetitive chiptune loop that either gets stuck in your head or makes you mute the TV after 10 minutes.
It’s not flashy, but there’s something satisfying about clearing the board tile by tile, especially when you pull off a lucky chain of matches. The controls take a second to get used to (d-pad for cursor, A to select), and the kanji on the tiles might throw you if you’re not familiar with mahjong symbols. Still, it’s a solid time-killer if you’re into slow, methodical puzzle games. Just don’t expect any fireworks.
