About Family Jockey
Family Jockey came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, a game developed and published by Namco. It was part of that wave of NES titles that tried to bring simple, competitive fun into the living room, a straightforward sports game in an era filled with platformers and adventures.
You control a jockey on a horse, and the goal is to win a series of horse races. The main action involves tapping the A button repeatedly to make your horse gallop faster, managing its stamina so it doesn't tire out before the finish line. You also need to steer your horse, navigating the track and sometimes bumping into other jockeys to try and slow them down. The races are short and the controls are simple, but the constant tapping and the need to pace your horse create a real sense of tension. It feels like a frantic, button-mashing battle against both the clock and the other riders.
