Family Computer Othello is basically the NES version of that classic board game where you flip your opponent's pieces by trapping them between your own. You pick black or white, then try to dominate the board—either against a friend or the computer. The AI has four difficulty levels, plus a secret fifth one if you somehow crush level four (good luck with that).
Controls are simple, but the strategy takes a while to click. At first, I just flipped pieces randomly, but after a few games, you start seeing patterns—like how corners are stupidly powerful. The computer doesn’t mess around on higher levels, either.
Oh, and there’s this weird rumor about a hidden slot machine mini-game if you press Select + A at the title screen. Some say it works, others say it’s a myth. I’ve never gotten it to actually do anything, but hey, maybe you’ll have better luck.
It’s Othello—not much more, not much less, but it does the job if you’re into that kind of thing.
