Family Circuit is one of those weird, charming NES racing games that feels like it was made for a Saturday morning with friends. You pick from these oddly specific racers—like a grandpa in a tiny car or a kid on a tricycle—and then just try not to spin out on the wobbly, colorful tracks. The controls take a second to get used to (why does braking feel like sliding on ice?), but once you get the hang of it, there’s something weirdly satisfying about barely scraping past the finish line while your cousin’s car flips upside down in the background.
It’s not exactly Mario Kart, but that’s kind of the point. The whole thing has this janky, homemade energy that makes it fun in short bursts. Just don’t expect deep strategy—this is pure chaotic couch competition.
