Famicom Yakyuu Ban is one of those early NES baseball games that feels charmingly rough around the edges. You get simple pixelated players, basic pitching and batting mechanics, and a surprisingly addictive little sports sim underneath it all. The fielding’s a bit janky—expect some questionable AI decisions—but there’s something satisfying about smacking a home run with those chunky sprites.
It’s Japan-only, so menus are in Japanese, but the gameplay’s intuitive enough that you’ll figure it out after a few swings. Just don’t expect modern MLB-level depth. This is pure 8-bit baseball, complete with that classic NES soundtrack looping in the background. If you’re into retro sports games, it’s a fun little time capsule.
