About Famicom Jump - Eiyuu Retsuden (japan)

Famicom Jump: Eiyuu Retsuden came out in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by TOSE and published by Bandai. It was a product of its time, a licensed game that tried to bring the sprawling cast of Shonen Jump's popular manga series into a single, playable adventure on the NES.

You control a rotating team of heroes from different series, like Goku from Dragon Ball or Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star, switching between them to tackle specific challenges. The main goal is to unite these heroes and defeat a common enemy threatening the world. The game plays out through screen by screen exploration on an overworld map, with turn based battles initiating when you contact an enemy. A signature mechanic is the character swapping; certain obstacles or bosses can only be overcome by a specific hero's special ability. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, often requiring trial and error to figure out which character to use where. Playing it feels like managing a disjointed superhero roster where you are constantly checking the right tool for the job.
