FIFA 64 was one of those early 3D soccer games where the players still looked a little blocky, but man, it felt like a big leap at the time. You’ve got all the international teams, and the stadiums actually look decent for an N64 game—though the crowds are basically just pixelated blobs waving flags. The controls take a minute to get used to, especially if you’re coming from the smoother FIFA games on newer consoles, but once you adjust, the passing and shooting feel surprisingly solid.
I remember spending way too much time in the tournament mode, trying to take some random underdog team all the way. The commentary’s hilariously repetitive, but it adds to the charm. If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a fun throwback—just don’t expect modern FIFA polish.
