F-Zero X came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the faster racing games on the console at the time, a follow-up to the original SNES game that pushed the hardware to keep up with its sense of speed.

You pilot a high-speed anti-gravity machine on twisting tracks high above futuristic cityscapes. The main goal is straightforward: finish in the top three to advance through the cup tournaments. Your machine has a health bar that acts as both your shield and your boost fuel; you can sacrifice health for a sudden burst of speed, a constant risk-reward decision. Another key mechanic is the side attack, a quick lunge to shove rivals into walls or off the track entirely. The game moves incredibly fast and demands quick reflexes to navigate tight corners and avoid being knocked out. It feels like you are constantly balancing aggression with self-preservation at impossible speeds.
