F-1 World Grand Prix II is one of those N64 racers that actually makes you feel like you're wrestling with a real F1 car—not just holding down the accelerator and praying. The second you start a race, the handling throws you for a loop if you're used to arcade racers; these things understeer like crazy until you figure out how to feather the brakes properly. And those weather effects? Rain turns the track into an ice rink in the best (or worst) way possible.
What’s cool is how different each track feels—Monaco’s tight corners will wreck you if you don’t downshift early, while Silverstone lets you actually open up the throttle. The graphics were solid for the N64, too, with these chunky, detailed car models that somehow didn’t chug in split-screen. Just don’t expect modern assists; this game makes you work for every overtake.
If you’ve got a soft spot for late ‘90s racing sims, this one’s a hidden gem. Just keep a spare controller handy for when you rage-quit after spinning out on the last lap.
