F-1 World Grand Prix on the N64 was one of those racing games that actually made you feel like you were wrestling with a real F1 car—not just holding down the gas and hoping for the best. The handling’s twitchy in that way early F1 sims always were, but once you get used to it, threading through Monaco without smashing into every barrier feels weirdly satisfying.
The tracks are the real stars here. They nailed the elevation changes at Spa and the tight chicanes at Monza, and the weather actually messes with your grip in a way that’ll have you white-knuckling the controller. Graphics were solid for the time, though don’t expect modern polish—just that classic N64 fog doing its best to hide the draw distance.
If you’re into old-school racing sims with a learning curve, this one’s a blast. Just don’t blame me when you spin out on lap 19 because you got too confident in the rain.
