About F-1 Race (world) (rev A)
F-1 Race came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Nintendo. It was one of the early racing games on the handheld, arriving when players were getting used to portable action on that small green screen. You could even link up with three other players using the Four Player Adapter, which was a novel idea at the time.
You control a Formula One car from a top-down perspective, steering it through twisting tracks. The main goal is straightforward: finish in the top four to qualify for the next race across a multi-race championship. Your car has a manual transmission, requiring you to shift gears to manage your speed on the straights and through corners. You also need to watch your fuel gauge, making pit stops to refill your tank or your tires will wear down, affecting your grip. The races are quick and the other drivers are aggressive, making it a challenge to hold your position. It feels like a constant, tense battle against the track and the clock.
