F-1 Race on the NES (or Famicom if you're playing the Japanese version) is this weirdly charming little racing game where you zip around tracks that feel way too narrow at first. The controls take a second to get used to—your car slides a bit like you're on ice, but once it clicks, you start nailing those tight turns.
Best part? Before each race, you get these cameos from Nintendo characters like Mario and Donkey Kong cheering you on. It's totally random but gives the game this fun, unofficial "Nintendo All-Stars" vibe. The Game Boy port later kept the same spirit, just with way tinier cars.
It's not the deepest racer, but there's something satisfying about shaving seconds off your lap times while pixelated DK waves a checkered flag at you.
