About F-1 Race (japan)
F-1 Race came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the earlier racing games on the console, arriving before many of the system's more famous titles. You got a simple black cartridge, and it felt like a straightforward attempt to bring Formula One to the home screen.
You control a single F1 car from a top-down perspective, racing against computer opponents on tracks that scroll vertically. The main goal is to finish each Grand Prix in the top three to accumulate points and advance. Your car has a manual transmission, requiring you to shift gears with the A and B buttons to manage your speed through corners. You also have a limited amount of fuel for each race, forcing you to plan your pit stops carefully. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the controls are twitchy, making it easy to spin out if you take a turn too aggressively. It feels like a constant battle to keep your car on the track and your fuel from running out.
