Excitebike 64 is one of those N64 racers that just feels right—like the bike actually has weight to it, not just floating over jumps. You start off thinking it’s just another dirt bike game, but then you hit your first big air and realize how much control you actually have mid-flight. Tilt the stick just right, and you can tweak the bike’s angle to land smoother or even pull off a backflip (if you’re brave).
The tracks are brutal in the best way—mud pits that slow you down, sudden rainstorms that make everything slippery, and those ridiculous uphill climbs where you’re just praying your momentum carries you. And yeah, the crashes are gloriously over-the-top. One wrong landing and your rider goes ragdolling down a hill while the bike cartwheels into oblivion.
It’s got that classic N64 charm where everything’s a little rough around the edges, but the physics and track design hold up way better than they should. Still one of the best arcade-style bike racers out there.
