About Exchanger
Exchanger was a Game Boy release from 1990, developed by A-Wave and published by Asmik. It arrived during a period when the handheld was filling its library with a wide variety of action and puzzle games, and this title offered a particular kind of spatial challenge. You don't control a character in the traditional sense, but rather a small, blocky cursor that moves across a grid.
Your goal is to swap adjacent tiles on the grid to create paths for a bouncing energy ball to reach the exit. The core mechanics involve rotating the entire playfield with the D-pad and executing swaps with the A and B buttons. Each stage is a single screen puzzle that requires you to think about the ball's trajectory and the timing of your swaps. The difficulty escalates steadily, introducing obstacles and more complex layouts that demand careful planning. It feels like untangling a knot with your mind, one deliberate move at a time.
