About Elevator Action
Elevator Action came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, published by Taito. It was one of those games that felt different from the platformers and space shooters that were common at the time, offering a straightforward but tense kind of mission inside a single building.
You control a spy who must move floor by floor through a high-rise, riding elevators and using stairwells to navigate. Your goal is to collect secret documents from specific rooms and then escape from the building's garage. The signature mechanics involve dodging enemy agents in the hallways, shooting them with your pistol, and turning out lights to hide in the darkness. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty comes from the limited ammo and the way enemies spawn from elevator shafts and doors. It feels like a careful, methodical race against a clock you cannot see.
