About Earthworm Jim 3d (europe)
Earthworm Jim 3D came out for the Nintendo 64 in 1999, developed by VIS Entertainment. It was part of that wave of 3D platformers trying to find their footing after the shift from 2D sprites to polygonal worlds. You could feel the ambition, the attempt to bring a chaotic cartoon character into a new dimension.
You control Jim, an earthworm in a robotic suit, and your goal is to rescue Princess What's-Her-Name from the evil Psy-Crow. The game plays out across various planets, where you run, jump, and use Jim's own body as a whip to attack enemies. You explore levels screen by screen, collecting gold coins and searching for the cow launchers that act as your main objective. The pacing can be uneven, with some sections demanding precise platforming while others feel more open and exploratory.
