About Dungeon Land (japan)
Dungeon Land was a Game Boy release from 1991, developed by Atelier Double and published by Epoch. It arrived during a period when the handheld was filling its library with a wide variety of Japanese-developed titles, offering an alternative to the more common action and puzzle games of the era.
You control a party of four adventurers, each with a distinct class like Fighter or Mage, navigating a grid-based dungeon one screen at a time. Your main goal is to guide them through these floors, fighting monsters and collecting the pieces of a Triforce-like artifact. The combat is turn-based, requiring you to input commands for your entire party before watching the round resolve, and positioning is critical as you push blocks to create paths or trap enemies. The game demands careful resource management and can be quite difficult, with enemy encounters that will punish a careless approach. It feels like a deliberate, tactical puzzle where every move matters.
