Dungeon Kid (japan) Game

Dungeon Kid is one of those weird, charming NES dungeon crawlers that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this weirdly addictive loop of exploring blocky, maze-like dungeons while managing your tiny inventory. You start off with a dagger and a dream, smacking slimes and grabbing keys to unlock doors, but before long you’re juggling potions, scrolls, and gear upgrades while trying not to get lost in the twisty corridors.
The graphics are simple, even for an NES game, but there’s something satisfying about uncovering the map tile by tile. And yeah, the menus are all in Japanese, but if you’ve played enough retro RPGs, you’ll figure it out fast—just don’t accidentally drink a poison potion thinking it’s a heal. It’s the kind of game you boot up thinking you’ll play for 10 minutes, then suddenly an hour’s gone by.
