Duke Nukem 64 is pure late-'90s FPS chaos, and honestly, it’s still a blast. You start off blasting aliens in a neon-lit city, spouting ridiculous one-liners like "Hail to the king, baby!" while picking up shotguns and pipe bombs. The levels are packed with secret areas—some doors explode, others need a keycard, and half the fun is just figuring out where to go next.
The controls take a minute to get used to (N64 joystick aiming, ugh), but once you do, it’s satisfying as hell to mow down enemies with the rapid-fire chaingun. And yeah, the humor’s cheesy, but that’s part of the charm—this game doesn’t take itself seriously at all. Just don’t expect deep storytelling; it’s all about run-and-gun action with a side of attitude.
If you grew up with this era of shooters, it’s a nostalgia trip worth revisiting. If not, it’s still a solid time capsule of what made old-school FPS games so fun.
