Duke Nukem: Zero Hour is one of those weird N64 shooters that tried third-person before it was cool. You hop through time zones blasting aliens with Duke’s usual arsenal—shotguns, explosives, and one-liners that somehow still land. The levels are surprisingly varied, from Wild West towns to futuristic cities, and figuring out where to go next is half the fun (or frustration, depending on how lost you get).
It’s janky by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about the way it throws ridiculous set pieces at you—like riding a hoverbike while dodging UFOs. If you can handle the N64’s clunky controls, it’s a solid dose of late-’90s action with that classic Duke attitude.
