Duke Nukem - ZER0 H0UR is one of those N64 gems that somehow flew under the radar. You start off in this grimy, neon-lit city where aliens are wrecking everything, and Duke—being Duke—immediately starts cracking one-liners while blasting them to bits. The third-person shooting feels surprisingly smooth for an N64 title, and the time-travel gimmick keeps the levels from getting stale.
What really sells it, though, is the attitude. The weapons are ridiculous (of course there’s a shrink ray), the enemies are over-the-top, and Duke’s dialogue is so cheesy it loops back to being awesome. It’s not perfect—some of the platforming bits can be janky—but if you’re into shooters with personality, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect anything deep; it’s pure dumb fun with a side of alien carnage.
