About Dragon Wars (japan)
Dragon Wars came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, published by Kemco. It was part of that wave of late NES RPGs that tried to build on what earlier games had established, offering a more involved fantasy adventure on the console.
You control a party of characters, starting with your wrongly imprisoned hero, and you guide them through towns, dungeons, and an overworld map. The main goal is to escape your captivity and seek revenge, which involves navigating screen by screen through various locations, talking to people for clues, and fighting monsters in a turn based combat system. You manage your party's equipment, learn spells, and solve environmental puzzles to progress. The game has a deliberate pace, and some of the dungeon layouts can be tricky to remember. It feels like a methodical journey where your careful planning in battles and exploration directly impacts your success.
