About Dragon Warrior Iii
Dragon Warrior III came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1988, developed and published by Enix. It was a big deal on the NES, a game that built on what the first two had done. This one is actually a prequel to the original Dragon Warrior, setting up the events that would come later.
You control a young hero who sets out to defeat the villain Baramos, following in the footsteps of your father, Ortega, who failed in the same quest. You recruit a party of characters you create yourself, choosing their classes like warrior or mage. The world opens up as you progress, letting you explore towns, dungeons, and the overworld screen by screen. You fight monsters in turn-based battles, manage your equipment, and slowly grow stronger. The game has a steady pace and can be quite difficult, requiring careful planning for some of the longer dungeons. It feels like a substantial, personal journey because the party you build is entirely your own.
