About Dragon Unit (japan)
Dragon Unit is a Japan only release for the Nintendo Entertainment System, developed by Advance Communication Company. It came out during a period when many developers were experimenting with the console's capabilities for side scrolling action games, and this title fits squarely into that effort.
You control a lone soldier navigating a series of side scrolling and top down stages. Your main objective is to fight through enemy lines, destroying their vehicles and installations. The game features a power up system where you collect items to upgrade your main weapon, and you can also find a sub weapon like a spread shot or homing missile. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with aggressive enemy placements. Playing it feels like a constant, hectic scramble for firepower just to survive the next screen.
