About Dragon Strike
Dragon Strike came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed by Westwood Associates. It was a game from that era where developers were experimenting with mixing genres, trying to create new experiences on the familiar console.
You control a knight riding a metallic dragon, flying over a top-down landscape. Your main goal is to complete missions by defeating enemy dragons, manticores, and other flying monsters. You attack by swooping in to use your dragon's claws or by firing its recharging magical breath; you also have a lance for close passes and a magic orb that acts as a radar. The game is challenging because you must avoid enemy archers on the ground while managing your attacks in the air. Successfully finishing missions lets you gain more hit points and eventually upgrade to a more powerful dragon, like a silver or gold one, which changes the available missions and the ending. Playing it feels like a tense, low-altitude dogfight where every dive and shot counts.
