About Dragon Spirit
Dragon Spirit came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, a conversion of Namco's arcade shoot 'em up. It was one of many side-scrolling shooters on the platform, but it stood out with its fantasy theme instead of the usual sci-fi setting.
You control a blue dragon flying through horizontally scrolling stages. Your main goal is to survive the onslaught of enemies and defeat the boss at the end of each level to rescue a princess. The dragon has a standard fire breath attack, but you can collect power-ups from colored eggs that change your shot pattern, add options for extra firepower, or grant temporary invincibility. The game is known for its brisk pace and considerable difficulty, with enemy patterns that require quick reflexes to navigate. Playing it feels like a constant, tense dance between aggressive offense and careful evasion.
