About Dragon Spirit - Aratanaru Densetsu (japan)
Dragon Spirit: Aratanaru Densetsu came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, a Namco release that arrived when the console was well established. It was a time when side scrolling shooters were plentiful, and this one offered a fantasy twist on the familiar formula.
You control a dragon, flying from left to right across varied landscapes. Your main goal is to survive the stages and defeat the bosses waiting at the end. The dragon can shoot multiple projectiles, and you collect power ups that change your firepower; one power up gives you a three way shot, another turns your projectiles into bouncing fireballs. You also have a screen clearing bomb for emergencies. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty ramps up quickly with dense enemy patterns. Navigating through the narrow caverns and dense forests requires constant attention. Playing it feels like a constant, focused dance between aggression and evasion.
