Dragon Power on the NES is this weird, charming little beat 'em up that feels like someone took a kung fu movie and ran it through an '80s cartoon filter. You play as this tiny, round-faced hero who punches and kicks his way through levels packed with dragons, ninjas, and some seriously questionable enemy designs (seriously, what’s up with those frog guys?).
The controls are simple—just mash buttons and hope for the best—but there’s something oddly satisfying about bouncing between enemies like a hyperactive martial arts pinball. The levels get tougher fast, and by the time you hit the later stages, you’ll be sweating over every jump and timing your attacks just right.
If you dig this kind of old-school brawler, Metal Slug 2 or King of Fighters 2002 might scratch that same itch. Or just browse the NES section—there’s always something weird and wonderful hiding in there.
Controls: Arrow keys to move, Z to punch, X to kick, and Enter to start. Good luck—you’ll need it.
