About Dragon Fighter
Dragon Fighter was a late era NES release, arriving in 1990 when many players were already looking toward 16 bit consoles. It was developed by Aicom and published by Sofel, companies not widely known for their hits. The game fits into that period where NES developers were still experimenting with action adventure formats, trying to squeeze new ideas out of the aging hardware before moving on.
You control a knight named Clovis, tasked with rescuing a princess from a dragon. The game is structured screen by screen; you move through forests, caves, and castles, each screen presenting a self contained combat or platforming challenge. Your primary weapon is a sword with a short reach, but you can also find and use a bow for ranged attacks against flying enemies or creatures on higher ledges. The main objective involves navigating these areas, defeating monsters, and gathering three magical orbs to unlock the final confrontation. The pacing is deliberate, often requiring careful observation of enemy patterns, and the difficulty is considerable, with precise jumps and quick reactions needed to survive. Playing Dragon Fighter feels like a persistent, methodical struggle against a world that is frequently unforgiving.
