Dragon Ball Z - Kyoushuu! Saiya Jin is one of those early NES games that really makes you feel like you're stepping into the anime. You start off as Goku, flying around on the Nimbus Cloud, punching through waves of Saibamen—those little green guys that explode if you don't take them out fast enough. The sprites are chunky but charming, and the music? Pure 8-bit DBZ nostalgia.

It's not just a straight beat-em-up, though. There’s some light RPG stuff where you level up your attacks, and the fights against Raditz and Nappa actually feel like battles instead of just button-mashing. The controls take a minute to get used to—jumping feels a little floaty at first—but once it clicks, you’ll be pulling off Kamehamehas like it’s second nature.

Fair warning: it’s tough. Like, "throw-your-controller" tough in spots. But if you grew up with DBZ or just love retro games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a blast from the past.
