About Dragon Ball Z - Gokuu Gekitouden (japan)
Dragon Ball Z: Gokuu Gekitouden came out in 1994 for the Game Boy, developed by Bandai. It was one of the many portable games trying to capture the feel of the anime on the small screen, a time when you were happy just to see the characters you knew in a playable form.
You control Goku, moving screen by screen to fight other Z-warriors in one-on-one battles. The main goal is to win a series of martial arts tournaments. The fighting uses a simple system of punches, kicks, and special moves like the Kamehameha, which you charge up with a button combination. Between fights, you navigate a simple world map to find your next opponent and recover your health. The pacing is straightforward, though the difficulty can spike with certain rivals. It feels like a condensed version of the show's fights, where landing a super move provides a genuine thrill.
