Dracula Densetsu on Game Boy is one of those classic vampire hunts that feels like it should’ve been way more famous. You start off with this little pixelated hero—no fancy backstory, just a dude with a whip (sound familiar?)—and immediately get thrown into gloomy castles full of bats, skeletons, and those annoying floating medusa heads. The controls are simple, but don’t let that fool you—some of the jumps are brutal, and Dracula’s minions love to ambush you from off-screen.

What really sticks with me is the atmosphere. For a Game Boy game, the music and visuals nail that gothic horror vibe, even in green-and-black. There’s something satisfying about cracking your whip at zombies while dodging projectiles, though I’ll admit I died way too many times to the first boss before figuring out his pattern. If you’re into retro action games with a bite of challenge, this one’s a solid time capsule from when handhelds were just starting to get ambitious.
